20 Minute Workout

Not enough hours in the day to go to the gym? Why not try my 20 minute workout? You can be fit and healthy with a little bit of exercise everyday to keep the doctor away. All in the comfort of your own home, you’ll be surprised at how much exercise you can do in 20 minutes. No gym equipment is needed, just your own body weight. Note: Supersets are used in the workout i.e. number of exercises performed back to back without any rest, to save valuable time. Supersets include exercises that use opposing muscle groups or totally different muscle groups, to not pre-fatigue any muscles unnecessarily. E.g. Squat – legs, followed by Push up – Chest.

Enjoy the following 20 minute workout:

Stretches:

Dynamic chest stretch – Pull arms back repetitively 1×15

Dynamic hamstring stretch – swing each leg forward and backwards 1×15 on each leg

 

Superset 1:

Jog on the spot for 3 minutes

Ice skaters 1×20

Spotty dogs 1×20

 

 

Superset 2:

Burpees 1×20

Squat and Star jumps 1×20

Plank – Hold for 1min

 

Superset 3:

Lunge and twist 3×12

Push ups 3×12

Rest for 30 seconds before starting the next set

 

Superset 4:

Squats 3×12

Plank with rows 3×12

Rest for 30 seconds before starting the next set

 

Finally stretch the calfs, hamstrings, quads, glutes, hip flexors, chest and back. Hold each stretch for 10 seconds (Maintenance stretch). Hope you had fun and enjoyed my 20 minute workout!!
